Named after the first female scientist in India -  Asima, these orange and cream Kala Cotton pillow cases are handcrafted from heirloom organic cotton grown in Gujarat, India. Handwoven on traditional wooden looms by award winning artisanal community of weavers, they have a natural and earthy vibe. The bright handmade tassels add a pop of color to the otherwise muted color tones. The pillow fabric is handcrafted on hand-operated wooden looms, one of the oldest methods of textile production in India. The looms require no electricity or punch cards to guide the design, only skill, technique and vision of the weavers. The yarn is made from heirloom organic cotton grown in Gujarat, India. The crop is purely rain fed so unlike large scale industrialized cotton production, it doesn't require vast amounts of water to grow.  It is also organic since it needs no pesticides and has high tolerance to diseases and pests. Please note these pillowcases are made entirely by hand; subtle irregularities are to be expected and celebrated

Soil to Studio uses time-honored techniques like handloom weaving, block-printing, natural dyeing, and hand embroidering to slow make table linens, pillows, wall art, rugs, and scarves in intentional, small batches. The iconic three shade system of the PH series of lighting fixtures was created in 1925/1926 by Poul Henningsen for an exhibition in Paris. The designer was determined to produce glare free lighting that was directed where it was needed most while creating soft shadows. The three shade system creates an even distribution of light as each shade reduces the light equally due to their distance from the light source. This is the first lamp to have been created using the scientific model of the logarithmic spiral as a basis for light distribution. There have been approximately one thousand variations of the original lamp with several floor, table, wall, and pendant versions currently available.
