Each piece is thoughtfully handmade made by artisans in the ancient kiln city of Jingdezhen. “Imperial caliber” comes from Jingdezhen’s designation as a major kiln site in the 11th century — over 1,000 years ago. The city’s kilns supplied the Chinese Emperor and court with high-quality porcelain that could be used or given as gifts. Middle Kingdom’s modern studio and manufacturing facility is located just down the street from some of the city’s original imperial kilns. Middle Kingdom started in 1998 with the goal to create exceptional Chinese porcelain for a modern audience. Now with over 20 years in business, and a wide assortment of incredibly designed products, Middle Kingdom has successfully infused a modern aesthetic into an age-old art form and begun a new chapter for Chinese porcelain. Each Middle Kingdom artisan begins as an apprentice — ensuring that each piece is designed and crafted at the highest quality that the art form commands.
